This is one of my favourite Bible verses. I can well imagine the scene as this crowd of needy people came to Jesus. A man with a lame leg; a mother with a sick child; a blind man feeling his way with a stick. Many of them had travelled many miles to get there just so they could touch him and be healed.
I read an amusing headline in a booklet I picked up at the Chemist the other day. It read “Paracetamol doesn’t know where the pain is!” It went on to explain that it just flows through the bloodstream until it finds the pain!
Not so with Jesus. Our Bible tells us in Hebrews that we, “do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses but was in all points tempted as we are….” Hebrews 4:15. Yes; unlike Paracetamol, He knows where the pain is. Not only does He know where it is; He knows how to deal with it! Praise Him for His touch.
Wherever you are; whatever your need, Jesus Christ the Lord is within reach. There are over one hundred verses in the Bible that repeat the promise “I will never leave you nor forsake you”, notably Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you”.
Be blessed as you continue to trust Him, “…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” – 1 Peter 5:7
