It was an exciting moment. Almost a miracle! This morning, right ‘out of the blue’ I found a tiny piece of a broken amber pendant. The pendant was a lovely gift to me some years ago. One day I was wearing it and a friend said to me “That is quite valuable you know”. I had never thought of its possible material value; to me, it was of value as a much-appreciated gift.
The other day, as I was handling the tiny broken piece, wondering if it could be repaired, it fell out of my hand onto the carpet. Over two days Eddie and I searched the area. On our knees, with torches, we went into every possible corner, but all our searching was of no avail.
Whenever Eddie loses something I say “Have you prayed about it!” Now it was my turn! and I did pray. In my heart, the small amber pendant had increased in value. I was hoping that Eddie would be able to repair it for me; that was why I was looking at it when the tiny piece was lost.
Then, this morning, as I was getting dressed I felt a little ‘something’ under my foot. It was the little lost piece! I was so excited. I called out to Eddie “I’ve found it”. It had been buried in the pile of my bedside rug, a place we had looked several times before! We both stood there, looking at it with thankful hearts.
In Luke 15 v8 Jesus tells of a lady who had lost a coin that meant a lot to her. She was so excited when she found it, she called her friends to a party with the words “Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece that was lost”! That’s how I felt; so happy! It was only a very small piece – but it was important.
I pray this simple testimony will be an encouragement to you. I lost something very small indeed, but it mattered. Whatever our need; He cares. He said that He came “..to seek and to save that which was lost” and, having found us, there is no doubt that He cares for us. In the words of 1 Peter 5 v7, we can “cast all our anxieties on the Lord because he cares for us”.
