You Crown The Year with a Bountiful Harvest

“You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance”Psalm 65 v11 (New Living Translation).

In my Bible, this Psalm has been titled “Praise to God for His salvation and providence”. The Old Year had its challenges and its disappointments, but it also had its encouragements and victories. Not everything went according to plan! Some things we had thought about and planned for, just didn’t work out. The restrictions and uncertainties brought about by the pandemic have been a ‘hard pathway’ for many of us to negotiate. Even so, we can praise the Lord and give thanks that even on some ‘hard pathways’ we have had many blessings.

Whatever the year and however hard the pathway, the promises of God are being fulfilled in our lives. The Word of God speaks to us all when it says “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” – Jeremiah 29 v11.

In Psalm 65, King David is praising God for a year of “bountiful harvest”. It is a song of praise and thanksgiving to God.  Praise the Lord! Year after year, we are blessed beyond measure by our Father’s ‘bounty’. Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and have it to the full” – John 10 v10. We are blessed too with God’s grace. John 1 v16 says: “And of His fullness have we all received, and grace for grace”. And don’t let’s forget love, His love, that is “…Poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit…” – Romans 5 v5. As we move together into the New Year, with one heart and one mind, let’s believe together that we shall indeed be “filled with all the fullness of God” – Ephesians 3 v19.

Even when at times we hit a hard patch we are blessed with a bountiful harvest, with an abundance of life, grace, and love flowing through our lives.

Be blessed with heaven’s best,

Eddie.
